# Run Memory

> Checkpoint and resume for AI agent runs. Save state after each step; when a run crashes, resume hands back the last step, state and finished items so it picks up where it left off instead of starting over. Free watch-only mode shows exactly what would be saved; Pro (All Access, $49 a month) saves and resumes.

## Tools
### save_checkpoint
Call after each completed step with the state you would need to continue (cursor, ids done, partial results; up to 256 KB JSON). Pro saves it (last 20 per run, kept 30 days). Free watch-only saves nothing and returns would_save: exactly what would have been stored. Never put passwords or API keys in state.
Inputs: `run_id` (string, required), `step` (string, required), `state` (object, required), `done` (array)

### resume
Call FIRST when a run starts. If a checkpoint exists for run_id (Pro), returns the last step, state and done list: continue from there and skip finished work. If none, start fresh.
Inputs: `run_id` (string, required)

### list_checkpoints
List recent checkpoints (step, size, time) for one run or all runs on your key.
Inputs: `run_id` (string)

### weekly_report
Draft a plain-English report of the last 7 days: runs, checkpoints saved (Pro) or that would have been saved (free). Read-only; sends nothing.
Inputs: none

### usage_and_upgrade
Usage today + upgrade link (not metered).

## FAQ
### What problem does this solve?
Long agent runs crash: a timeout, a closed laptop, an expired sandbox. Without a checkpoint the agent starts over and pays for every step again. Run Memory keeps the last good state so it continues instead.

### How does my agent use it?
Call resume with a stable run_id at the start. After each step call save_checkpoint with the step name and the JSON state it needs to continue. After a crash, restart with the same run_id.

### What should go in state?
Cursors, ids, page numbers, partial results: up to 256 KB of JSON. Never passwords or API keys; keys named like secrets are replaced with [removed] before anything is saved.

### What is watch-only mode?
The free plan saves nothing. save_checkpoint returns would_save, the exact state Pro would store, and weekly_report counts the crash points it would have covered.

### Is there a model inside?
No. Bring your own model. Run Memory only stores and returns the JSON your agent sends; it never runs anything.

### What does it cost?
Free: watch-only previews, 500 calls a day. Pro comes with All Access at $49 a month (every Cloud for Bots tool): real checkpoints, resume, 50,000 calls a day.
